Online Instruction

Pronunciator is the world's largest language-learning service, with 75 languages and 3,750 available courses. Learn how to speak a foreign language with the help of pronunciation analysis, virtual coaches and simulated conversations. For both beginners and advanced learners, kids to adults. Also includes interactive ESL for 50 non-English languages. Access to Pronunciator requires your library card number.

USA Learns is a site for learning English and improving basic reading, writing, speaking and life skills.

Open Culture is a site offering courses in 46 languages.

Materials in the Library

The Library has materials for learning languages. For example, do a keyword search in the Library's catalog for 'Spanish language self-instruction' to get an idea of what is available for learning Spanish. Or, browse call numbers 400-499 to find materials on languages from English to Tagalog.

English as a Second Language (ESL)
