Boil Water Notice Cancellation Notification

The Boil Water Notice for Kilkare Road has been lifted. The City of Pleasanton, in conjunction with the State Water Resources Control Board, has conducted comprehensive testing and determined that your water is safe to drink. It is no longer necessary for residents on Kilkare Road to boil tap water or to consume bottled water.

Initial Notice: At approximately 7:40 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024, the City of Pleasanton was alerted to a water main break at the northern end of Kilkare Road in Sunol. Crews arrived on site and closed the line near 2836 Kilkare Road. An AC Alert was sent to residents in the area alerting them of the water main break and water shut off at 9:41 p.m.

Friday, January 12 – Morning Update:
The City is working to excavate the affected water main to determine the extent of the damage and make necessary repairs. Once the pipe is fully excavated, the City will be able to provide a more concrete estimated time of repair, but we hope to have water restored to the area by early evening tonight.
A Boil Water Notice is in effect for all residents on Kilkare Road north of 670 Kilkare Road. Any water left in your system should be boiled before being used for cooking, drinking, brushing your teeth, etc. The boil water notice will remain in place until the pipe is repaired and testing of water in the pipe has been approved, which is expected to be between 24 and 72 hours after restoration.

City staff was on site providing Boil Water Notices to residents early this morning. A copy of the Boil Water Notice can be found here.

Water is available to residents in the affected area. A water staging area is located on Kilkare Road just after Foothill Road.

All residents within the Pleasanton city limits are NOT affected by the water main break or Boil Water Notice. Residents south of 670 Kilkare Road, including residents on Creekside Way are NOT affected by the water main break or Boil Water Notice.

Friday, January 12 – Afternoon Update:
Repairs are underway for the broken water main on Kilkare Road and water is expected to be completed in the late evening.
Remember – the Boil Water Notice remains in place at this time. The City will communicate with residents and share information on this webpage when the Boil Water Notice has been rescinded.
