At its July 15 meeting, the Pleasanton City Council approved nearly $700,000 in funding through a grant program that supports local nonprofits and community projects.

The funding will go to the Housing and Human Services Grant (HHSG) Program, which helps organizations deliver vital services to those in need, including housing support, mental health care, food programs, and more. Recipients include Spectrum Community Services, Open Heart Kitchen, CityServe of the Tri-Valley, Tri-Valley Haven, Axis Community Health, Tri-Valley Reach, Goodness Village, and others.

Funding comes from a mix of federal, state, and local sources, including federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) funds, the City’s Lower Income Housing Funds, and the General Fund.

Total funding for the FY2025–2026 HHSG program is lower than in recent years. This year’s allocations include $100,000 from the City’s General Fund, demonstrating Pleasanton’s continued investment in community services despite broader fiscal constraints. The City also received approximately $225,000 in federal CDBG funds designated for capital projects. Since no eligible capital project applications were submitted, those funds will be held for future use.

“These programs allow us to invest in services and programs that directly support our residents,” said Jack Balch, Mayor of Pleasanton. “They reflect our commitment to a strong, inclusive, and connected Pleasanton.”

Grant allocations were reviewed and recommended in partnership with the City’s Human Services Commission.
