CITY OF PLEASANTON SEEKS PARADE PARTICIPANTS AND VOLUNTEERS FOR HOMETOWN HOLIDAY CELEBRATION

The City of Pleasanton invites the community to take part in this year’s Hometown Holiday Celebration, taking place Saturday, December 5, 2026, on Main Street in Downtown Pleasanton. The parade begins at 5:00 p.m. and is followed by a community tree lighting ceremony. The City is now accepting parade registrations, volunteer applications, sponsorships and announcer audition videos. Online applications, parade entry fee information and other details are available at www.hometownholiday.com.

“The Hometown Holiday Celebration is one of Pleasanton’s beloved traditions, and the one time of year we bring the entire community together. This event could not happen without the many dedicated volunteers who help bring it to life,” said Tracy Newman, Recreation Supervisor for the City of Pleasanton. “Whether you want to be in the parade, volunteer, sponsor, or be the voice that announces the floats and bands, we’d love to have you be part of the celebration.”

The parade features festive floats, cars, marching bands and community organizations, followed by a tree lighting in front of the Museum on Main Street with live musical entertainment and a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Clause. The parade is held rain or shine. Parade entry fees range from $60 to $100, depending on the group category. Parade entry applications must be submitted by Sunday, November 22, and registration fees must be paid by 5 p.m. on Monday, November 30.

New this year, individuals interested in auditioning to announce the parade must submit an online application along with a one-minute video of themselves. The video should be recorded standing against a plain background while reading the audition script provided on the event website. Auditions are open to individuals at least 16 years old.

The City is also seeking volunteers to support various aspects of the event and help ensure a fun and festive experience for the entire community. Roles include parade marshals, set up and tear down, and other key positions. Volunteer opportunities are open to individuals 16 and older, and interested individuals are encouraged to sign up online.

Local businesses and organizations are invited to sponsor the celebration. Sponsorship levels include Presenting Sponsor for the Main Stage and Tree Lighting ($10,000, one available), Holiday Spirit Supporting Stage Sponsor ($2,000, one of two available) and Community Holiday Sponsor ($500). All sponsors must align with the City’s vision, mission, values and goals, and will receive recognition and benefits. Sponsorship questions may be directed to (925) 931-5367.

The City encourages the entire community to join this annual holiday celebration. For more information, contact (925) 931-5352 or [email protected]. Follow the City on Instagram @cityofpleasantonca and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/CityofPleasanton.
