Business Spotlight: Saltwater Gifts & Books

Creating Meaningful Connections in Pleasanton

Born from a desire to create connection and share positivity, Saltwater Gifts & Books offers a thoughtful collection of books, journals, and gifts designed to bring people closer together. As the business celebrates its one-year anniversary in Pleasanton, it continues to grow as a place rooted in meaningful moments and community connection.

Every item at Saltwater is selected with intention. From heartfelt cards to inspiring journals and carefully chosen books, the collection encourages people to express appreciation, offer support, and stay connected in a genuine way. Owner Colleen Faccini has created an environment where even the smallest gesture can leave a lasting impression.

Located in downtown Pleasanton on Spring Street, the space provides a calm and welcoming setting where visitors can slow down and step away from the pace of everyday life.

Colleen opened Saltwater with a clear goal: to celebrate people and help others feel valued. The space was thoughtfully designed to offer a sense of ease, where visitors can pause, reflect, and find something that resonates, whether for themselves or someone they care about.

That purpose carries through every detail. From the curated selection to the overall atmosphere, Saltwater encourages a more intentional way of giving and connecting.

The inspiration behind Saltwater is deeply personal. In 2023, Colleen experienced a renewed sense of clarity that shaped the direction of the business. That moment became the foundation for something centered on encouragement, authenticity, and support.

More than a retail experience, Saltwater reflects that journey by offering a place where people can feel seen and understood. It serves as a reminder that everyone faces challenges, and that small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.

Opening in Pleasanton felt like the right step for Colleen. Having grown up nearby in San Ramon and now living locally, she was drawn to the character of the downtown area and the opportunity to be part of a close-knit community. What stands out most in her day-to-day experience is the people. Conversations with customers, familiar faces returning, and simple moments of connection are what make the work especially rewarding.

The support from the community has also played an important role in the business’s growth. From encouraging messages to word-of-mouth recommendations, that steady support has helped Saltwater build a strong foundation in its first year.

While Saltwater is currently a one-person business, it is built with intention and a vision for the future. Colleen continues to grow the business thoughtfully, with plans to expand offerings and deepen relationships within the community.

In addition to retail, Saltwater hosts workshops and small gatherings in collaboration with local creatives. These events offer opportunities to learn something new, spend time with others, and enjoy shared creative experiences, extending its purpose beyond the products on display.
