Library Databases

Basic ESL provides free, web-based English lessons with native language support in 19 languages.  Through a simple to follow yet instructionally proven curriculum, Basic ESL improves an individual’s listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.  In each lesson, students learn key vocabulary on a variety of topics including family, home, and school.  No computer experience is necessary.

Pronunciator is the world's largest language-learning service, with 75 languages and 3,750 available courses. Learn how to speak a foreign language with the help of pronunciation analysis, virtual coaches and simulated conversations. For both beginners and advanced learners, kids to adults. Also includes interactive ESL for 50 non-English languages.

MUZZY is an award-winning, multimedia language program designed especially for children and beginning level foreign language and English (ESL) learning. MUZZY currently offers 8 world language options for all ages.

Materials in the Library

The Library has materials for learning languages. For example, do a keyword search in the Library's catalog for 'Spanish language self-instruction' to get an idea of what is available for learning Spanish. Or, browse call numbers 400-499 to find materials on languages from English to Tagalog.

English as a Second Language (ESL)
