Our Sports Division is dedicated to fostering a healthy and active community through a wide range of recreational activities for residents of all ages. The Sports Division is passionate about embracing the power of sports to bring people together, promote well-being and create lifelong memories.
With a diverse array of sports facilities, including well-maintained fields, courts and recreational spaces, we offer opportunities for everyone to engage in their favorite activities. From soccer to softball, basketball to tennis and much more, we provide a platform for the community to pursue their passions.

Field Status
In days of inclement weather, field status will be updated by 2:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. After 2:00 p.m., and on weekends, should the weather pattern change please check with your league representative on field status.

Youth Sports
The Pleasanton Library and Recreation Department offers a variety of sports for children of all ages and skill levels, including two seasonal basketball programs, sport camps and classes geared towards youth.- Youth Sport Camps & Classes

Pleasanton Youth Basketball (PYB)
November – February- PYB is a recreational basketball program open to boys and girls entering grades K-8.
- All skill levels are encouraged to participate in this inclusive program.
- PYB places an emphasis on fun, improving skills, making new friends and teamwork.
- Participants play 7 games with 12 practice dates (subject to change).

Summer Youth Basketball (SYB)
June – July Summer Youth Basketball is a program open to boys and girls of all skill levels entering grades 1-8. SYB is fundamentals based program that meets twice per week.Adult Sports
The Pleasanton Library and Recreation Department offers adult basketball and softball leagues. For more information on our adult leagues and to register a team, please visit Pleasanton’s TeamSideline website. All adult leagues are team-based.
Field & Gym Rentals
To reserve sports fields and/or middle school gymnasiums, please fill out the Use Application (located in the Applications section) and submitting via our form below.
- Insurance Requirements: Insured’s name must match the name listed on the Field Use Application. A minimum of $2,000,000 general liability insurance is required per occurrence and endorsement page listing the City of Pleasanton as Additionally Insured.
- Field availability Notice: Field availability viewing procedures have changed. For dates through June 1st, please refer to the Community Parks & Ken Mercer Sports Park Field Availability Calendars. Pickleball
The City of Pleasanton has a variety of ways to play pickleball in the community. There are 6 dedicated courts to pickleball at Muirwood Community Park. The courts are open from dawn to dusk. Please adhere to the court rules and utilize the paddle system for queuing for play.
There are also additional opportunities to play pickleball through Lifetime Activities. Visit their website for more information.
Beginning June 3, 2024 – the courts at Stoneridge Creek will have pickleball lines added. Tennis and Pickleball players will now have designated lines for play on these courts. There will be a pickleball paddle rack added so that players may queue for play. Because this will be a dual-striped court system, pickleball players MUST bring their own nets for play.
