Stanley Boulevard Reconstruction & Utility Undergrounding

Description Stanley Boulevard from Main Street to First Street (1900 linear feet) will be fully reconstruction and updated to be an extension of the downtown corridor with new curb and gutter, 6’sidwalks, 6’ bike lanes, dedicated street parking on the north side, decorate street lighting, street trees and undergrounding of the overhead utilities. Stanley Boulevard was the old state road through Pleasanton that has maintained a two lane rural characteristics with limited sidewalks and unmarked on street parking. New development has undergrounded some utilities and updated portions of the sidewalks. Businesses are located on the west end of Stanley and transitions to a residential neighborhood with both single and multi-family homes approximately 350' east from the Main Street. The project will include removing the entire road section back to the right of way including the old 20’ wide concrete state road section and lowering the center of the roadway up to 18”. The new road will consist of two lanes with bike lanes and sidewalks and on street parking on the north side of the roadway. The new road section will push the sidewalks to the edge of the existing 66’ wide right of way. New driveway approaches including matching existing decorative concrete, landscaping, trench restoration and general grading will occur on the private property to conform to the new sidewalk and road grades. The existing sewer, water, gas, telephone and electric services will be replaced to the existing residents and businesses. The existing sewer system will be extended 950’ with 8” sewer and structures, 425’ of new 12” storm drain and structures system will be added to pick up the new curb and gutter drainage. Several area drains will be installed to address localized drainage issues. PG&E electric, PG&E gas distribution, Comcast and AT&T will all be located in the joint trench that will run along the north side of the new roadway. The project will include the installation of all of the boxes, conduits and gas runs for all of the utilities in the joint trench and service trenches. The utilities will be responsible for setting their own equipment and pulling wire to the new termination locations. The contract includes installation of new termination cans on the homes and working with the utilities to convert over the homes once the new systems are active. This stretch of roadway is a critical connection to the Amador High School and downtown area and will only be allowed to be fully closed while Amador High School is not in session. All other times a minimum of two 11’ lanes will need to be maintained. An 8" PG&E gas transmission line runs 3’ north of the existing south edge of the roadway. Kinder Morgan also has a fuel line that parallels First Street that bisects Stanley Blvd between First Street and Promenade Way along the old railroad corridor. PG&E also has a 2" gas distribution line which will be relocated as part of the proposed work. The Engineer’s cost estimate for the project is $5 million.
