The Pleasanton Police Traffic Unit consists of one Lieutenant, a Sergeant, four motorcycle officers and two Community Service Officers. The Traffic Unit is responsible for:
The City is organized into three districts with a minimum of one officer assigned to each district.
- While the officers can still enforce traffic violations anywhere in the City, the districts allow them to focus on specific areas that have generated complaints and most often meet directly with the complaining citizen to evaluate and help solve the problem.
- Each traffic team is also responsible for the schools within their district and the commercial areas.
- Traffic officers work many of the special events that occur in Pleasanton.
