PLEASANTON HOSTS TEEN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Students Will Learn Essential 21st Century Leadership Skills

The City of Pleasanton is hosting its inaugural Teen Leadership Conference on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 8:30am-5:00pm. This daylong workshop is open to all high school students to give them the opportunity to collaborate and develop a citywide event in Pleasanton while learning and demonstrating leadership skills needed to succeed in everyday life.

Students will be divided into teams and assigned to one of the following lead roles: marketing, event concept, project manager, finance, or presentation. Team members will work together to develop the concept and details of their event and then present their plan at the conclusion of the day.

Students will also hear from a dynamic keynote speaker, Laurie Bodine, of START Leadership. As a parent and an executive strategist, Laurie has identified striking similarities between the leadership and management of exceptional businesses and those of exceptional individuals, families, and classrooms – especially with respect to developing, empowering and inspiring current and future leaders who can make a positive and productive impact. Universal principles are at play in the workplace, at home, and at school. From individual executives and families to

schools and Fortune 500 companies, Laurie has worked with and for companies that include 3M, Workday, Wells Fargo, UCSF, and the San Mateo County Office of Education.

Lunch and post-workshop mixer is included. Students may register at Pleasantonfun.com Course: 60857. Workshop Fees: $40 for Pleasanton Residents and $44 for Non-Residents. For more information please contact David Weisgerber at (925) 931-3474 or email at dweisgerber@cityofpleasantonca.gov
