Are you Ready to Weather a Storm?

Everybody knows the weather is unpredictable, but by taking the time to prepare in advance of any extreme weather, you will be better prepared to weather a storm.

Here's a checklist to help you prepare.


Create a list of key contacts

Create a family emergency plan, including:

Evacuation plan
Safe spot to meet family members
Emergency kit--water, food, first aid, flashlight

Here's what we do Every Year to Prepare for the Winter

  • inspect and clean storm drains
  • collect fallen leaves
  • send crews out 24 - 48 hours in advance of a possible storm to inspect waterways to ensure they are clear of obstructions.

Reports of flooding or hazards in the roadway should be directed to the customer service center Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at 925.931.5500 or by calling the Pleasanton Police Department on the weekends or holidays at 925.931.5100.

Make sure you are Prepared to Weather the Storm by:

Repairing roof damage and any leaks
Cleaning gutters and drains before rain
Removing limbs as needed
Clearing nearby storm drains of debris


Fill up on sandbags for FREE at the following locations, but remember to bring your own shovel.

  • Sand and bags are available at the city's Operations Services Center, located at 3333 Busch Road (just off of Valley Avenue).
