Councilmember Arne Olson

Elected to City Council: 2014

Councilmember Arne Olson is serving his first term on the Pleasanton City Council, following two terms as a member of the City's Planning Commission, which he joined in 2006. During his tenure on the Planning Commission, Councilmember Olson served as chair for two years, in 2010 and in 2014.

Several significant projects were launched during Councilmember Olson’s terms on the Planning Commission including Bernal Community Park, the Firehouse Arts Center, Stoneridge Creek Retirement Community, the Stoneridge Drive extension, Alviso Adobe Community Park, and the Callippe Golf Course.

He currently serves on a number of committees that include the Bernal Property Financing Committee, Alameda County Liaison Committee, School District Liaison Committee, Dublin Liaison Committee, Economic Vitality Committee, Fair Liaison Committee, and the Pleasanton Audit Committee. Councilmember Olson also serves in the General Assembly of the Association of Bay Area Governments, the Livermore Amador Valley Water Management Agency, and the Tri-Valley Transportation Council.

Councilmember Arne Olson has a Bachelors degree in Business Finance from the University of Washington, and an MBA in Corporate Finance from Seattle University. He has retired from an extensive career in finance, most recently as a First Vice-President with Comerica Bank. He also held leadership positions with Sumitomo Bank, Bank of the West, Imperial Bank, and Union Bank over the course of his career.

Councilmember Olson, until his election, served as a board member for the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce.
