Heidi Murphy grew up in Pleasanton and was appointed Director of Library Services in April 2016. The Pleasanton Public Library encourages reading, learning, and community. Pleasanton’s Library provides access to books, media, the internet, community events and activities seven days a week.
Heidi has been involved in the library field for nearly 15 years, bringing experience from a wide range of library systems along with her passion for people and people’s stories. Heidi spent the last nine years of her career with the Town of Los Gatos, where she most recently served as the Library Director for the Los Gatos Library. Heidi had the opportunity to work on many varied projects, including: planning for and opening a new, modern library; facilitating community focus groups and workshops; developing a strategic plan; and serving the community through partnerships, collaboration, ongoing communication and process improvement.
Heidi has a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from the University of California Santa Cruz and a Masters of Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. Heidi also serves on the Executive Committee for the Pacific Library Partnership.
