Review the Fair Political Practices Commission (“FPPC”) Campaign Disclosure Manual 2, which is available online at www.fppc.ca.gov. This manual provides information on campaign disclosure rules as required under the Political Reform Act. FPPC provides advice by phone at 1-800-275-3772 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
File the original FPPC Form 501 Candidate Intention Statement with the City Clerk before receiving contributions or expenditure of funds. Campaign Disclosure Manual 2 gives detailed instructions for completing Form 501.
File the original FPPC Form 410 Statement of Organization with the California Secretary of State, along with a $50 filing fee, within 10 days of receiving $2,000 in contributions. File a copy of the Form 410 with the City Clerk.

The nomination period for the 2022 election is from Monday, July 18, through Friday, August 12, 2022.
Nomination papers will be issued in-person by appointment only. There will be no papers issued before Monday, July 18, 2022. To make an appointment you make contact the City Clerk beginning July 5, 2022.
The City Clerk’s Office will be hosting a pre-nomination orientation session for prospective candidates interested in running for office in the city of Pleasanton. The orientation will include information on district-based elections, city government structure, the role of elected officials, the nomination process, Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) filings, campaign statements and disclosure obligations, and provide resources to help prospective candidates get started. This orientation session is free and registration is not required.
