Pleasanton Permits

Due to the Alameda County Health Department revised Shelter in Place Orders, all City of Pleasanton offices remain closed until further notice. Thank you for your patience during this time.

  • Construction Projects:  All construction projects are subject to safety protocols included in the Alameda County Order of the Health Officer No. 10-10 dated April 29, 2020. Please review the Appendix B-1 for Small Construction Project Safety Protocol or Appendix B-2 for Large Construction Project Safety Protocol. Complete a COVID-19 Construction Project Safety Certification and post at the job site.
  • Building Plan Review:  We are only accepting digital building permit applications during the temporary closure. We are plan checking electronically and routing electronic plans to our plan checkers and consultants for review. To check the status of your permit, select the "Permit Status & Inspections" yellow icon below.
    • To apply for a residential water heater, furnace/AC change out or reroof permit, please email your completed Building Permit Application to
    • For all other projects, please visit our New Electronic Building Plan Check Submittal page for more information and to submit.
    • Please allow 7-10 business days for processing and for staff to contact you regarding your submittal.
  • Building Inspections:  Inspection requests can be done online by scrolling down and selecting the "Permit Status & Inspections" yellow icon below or by calling 925-931-5300, Press 1. Inspections may be conducted through a video session on your smart phone or tablet at the job site. You will be contacted the morning of your inspection to coordinate the time of your inspection. All construction safety protocols must be in place and a signed COVID-19 Construction Project Safety Certification form provided to our inspector prior to the inspection.
  • Planning:  We are only accepting electronic Planning applications during this time. Please visit our Electronic Planning Submittal page for more information and instructions. We are available to answer zoning, land use and development questions at
  • Engineering:  We are only accepting engineering permits for emergencies relating to health and safety associated with sewer, water or utilities by calling 925-931-5650 during normal business hours.    
  • Payments:  All payments must be by credit card via phone.
