Paratransit/Transportation

Pleasanton Paratransit Services

Door-to-door Service: PPS provides scheduled door-to-door, shared ride transportation for residents of Pleasanton and Sunol age 70 and older or persons between 18 and 69 years that are ADA qualified. Wheels Dial-a-Ride staff can certify ADA eligibility.

Service Area:  PPS covers Pleasanton and Sunol, with limited service for medical appointments to San Ramon (San Ramon Regional Medical Center) and Livermore (Veterans Administration Medical Center, Valley Memorial Hospital/Medical Corridor, Kaiser Medical Offices, Palo Alto Medical Foundation in Dublin, and Concannon Boulevard medical area).

Service Hours:  PPS provides transportation Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with last scheduled pick up at 4:45 p.m.  PPS does not operate on Sundays and City holidays.  Wheels Dial-a-Ride serves Pleasanton ADA-eligible riders when PPS is not operating.  (Wheels Dial-a-Ride has its own registration form and fare vouchers.)

Rides must be scheduled at least 2 business days in advance, and cannot be scheduled more than 2 weeks in advance.  PPS does not provide same day service.

How to Sign Up:  If you’re interested in becoming a new rider, here’s what to do:

  2. Click Here to complete the Paratransit application.
  3. If you are under age 70 and disabled, contact Wheels Dial-A-Ride at (925) 455-7510 to find out how to become ADA certified.  (This process could take up to 2 weeks.)
  4. Submit the application (and a copy of your ADA certification card, if applicable) by mail or in person to Pleasanton Paratransit Service, 5353 Sunol Blvd., Pleasanton, CA 94566.  Applications can also be faxed to the PPS Office at (925) 485-3685.

PPS staff will contact you when your application has been reviewed, and your information has been entered into the computer system.

Downtown Route Service (DTR): Downtown Route Service is a same day fixed route transit service that operates Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays connecting local senior housing complexes to various popular destinations throughout Pleasanton. Registered Paratransit riders can access the service at any of the DTR stops and ride all day for one (1) low fare.

Cost:   Downtown Route ticket for service all day is $1.50. Tickets are sold in sheets of eight at $12.00 each. Registered Paratransit riders must purchase tickets in advance at the Pleasanton Senior Center or by mail at 5353 Sunol Blvd., Pleasanton, CA 94566. Paratransit drivers cannot accept money on the bus.
